With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?
It was my birthday month I was getting ready to celebrate my birthday but then quarantine hit and everything changed. So I auditioned for Star Académie a couple of months after. (The second quarantine) and then I was accepted. So I spent almost 6 months just doing music and singing and performing on stage every Sunday.
How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?
Actually Covid motivated me to do more self work. I challenged myself and stepped out of my comfort zone. I moved to a new city to go to college but then I didn’t really like it. I went to star Academy. I’ve moved to New York signed a record deal. And everything during Covid
What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?
I’m teaching myself piano. And I started taking figure skating classes again
How are dealing with the Covid fifth wave? Have things locked down again in your region? Have you had to cancel gigs, tours, etc.? Are things reopening & restrictions are lifting in your region? Have you booked any new gigs, tours, etc.? What are your plans for 2022?
It’s hard. Honestly, I’m doing my best. Because I really thought we were going to be out of the woods but then we’re not. So the fourth wave has officially started a week ago and right now I’m just sad because I just really wanted to sing and perform. It’s been a while since I’ve been on stage and I miss it so much. But I read, I meditate a lot and I started working out.
Do you have a message for everyone at home reading this?
Battles are meant to be fought, we’re going through something right now but be patient with yourself and show yourself some compassion because I know it’s hard but we’re gonna make it out of this stronger.
